Target Information
Porcine coagulation factor XII (F12) is a serum glycoprotein that plays multiple roles in initiating blood coagulation, fibrinolysis, and the production of bradykinin and angiotensin. It is primarily produced in the liver and circulates in plasma as a single-chain zymogen. Upon contact with negatively charged surfaces, FXII is converted into the active form, FXIIa, which initiates the intrinsic blood coagulation pathway by activating factor XI. Additionally, FXIIa activates the kallikrein-kinin system, leading to the release of bradykinin, which has vasodilatory and pro-inflammatory effects.
