Target Information
Porcine nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group H member 3 (pNR1H3), also known as the Farnesoid X Receptor (FXR) or bile acid receptor, is a ligand-activated transcription factor that plays a critical role in the regulation of bile acid homeostasis, lipid metabolism, and inflammation in pigs. This nuclear receptor is highly expressed in the liver, intestine, and kidney, where it responds to bile acids and other endogenous and exogenous compounds. pNR1H3 is integral to maintaining cholesterol and bile acid balance, which is essential for proper digestion and absorption of dietary fats. By modulating the expression of target genes involved in bile acid synthesis, transport, and elimination, this receptor helps to prevent the accumulation of toxic bile acids in the body.
