Porcine replication protein A2 (PRPA2) is a crucial factor in the DNA replication process, particularly in the context of homologous recombination (HR) repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). PRPA2, as a component of the replication protein A (RPA) complex, binds to single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) overhangs generated during DSB processing, playing a pivotal role in the initiation of HR. In the presence of DSBs, PRPA2 is central to the recruitment and stabilization of other repair proteins, such as RAD51, which is essential for the homology search and strand invasion steps of HR.
