Target Information
Matrix Gla protein (MGP) is a member of the vitamin K2-dependent, Gla-containing protein family. MGP has a high affinity for binding to calcium ions, which is similar to other Gla-containing proteins. Matrix Gla Protein is encoded by the MGP gene in pigs. Matrix Gla protein as a potential inhibitor of extracellular matrix calcification may contribute to the development of osteochondrosis.
