Bovine fatty acid binding protein 1 (FABP1) is a cytoplasmic protein that regulates lipid transport and metabolism. It is highly expressed in hepatocytes, enterocytes, and renal tubular cells and plays a role in lipoprotein-mediated cholesterol uptake. FABP1 levels are often elevated in conditions involving hepatocyte injury, such as alcohol or drug toxicity.
