Target Information

Bovine deoxynucleotidyltransferase, also known as terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TDT), is an enzyme that is crucial in the development of the immune system in cattle. It is involved in the process of V(D)J recombination, which is essential for the generation of diversity in the antigen receptors of B and T lymphocytes. TDT adds nucleotides to the 3' ends of DNA molecules without the need for a template, contributing to the junctional diversity of immune receptors. This enzyme is particularly important during the early development of T and B cells, where it helps to create a diverse repertoire of antigen receptors, enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and respond to a wide range of pathogens. In cattle, TDT plays a similar role, supporting the formation of a diverse immune repertoire necessary for effective immune responses.
