Target Information
Enteropeptidase is responsible for initiating activation of pancreatic proteolytic proenzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin and carboxypeptidase A). It catalyzes the conversion of trypsinogen to trypsin which in turn activates other proenzymes including chymotrypsinogen, procarboxypeptidases, and proelastases. Enteropeptidase is synthesized as a single-chain protein, whereas purified enteropeptidase contains a approximately 47-kDa serine protease domain (light chain) and a disulfide-linked approximately 120-kDa heavy chain.
