Target Information
Lactoperoxidase is a peroxidase enzyme found in various locations throughout the body. Research suggests Lactoperoxidase might be involved in other physiological processes, including wound healing and thyroid gland function. Lactoperoxidase is sometimes used in food processing as a natural preservative due to its antimicrobial properties. Lactoperoxidase is encoded by the LPO gene in cattle. It is related to mammalian peroxidase family which contains a wide spectrum of biological activities.
