Target Information
Bovine nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 2 (NOD2) is a member of the NLR (NOD-like receptor) family, which plays a crucial role in the recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns, particularly in the innate immune response to bacterial infections. It detects muramyl dipeptide (MDP), a component of bacterial peptidoglycan, leading to the activation of NF-κB and the initiation of inflammatory responses. NOD2 is also implicated in the regulation of host defense and inflammation, and its dysfunction is associated with inflammatory bowel diseases in cattle.
