Target Information
Bovine osteocalcin is a vitamin K-dependent protein that is synthesized and secreted by osteoblasts, playing a crucial role in bone metabolism. It is also known as bone γ-carboxyglutamic acid-containing protein (BGP) and is a small protein composed of 49 amino acids
. Osteocalcin is involved in the regulation of bone absorption, matrix mineralization, and osteoblast differentiation. It is closely related to bone turnover and can maintain normal bone mineralization rates, inhibit cartilage mineralization, and prevent abnormal hydroxyapatite crystal formation in bones.
