Target Information
Bovine Liver X Receptor Alpha (LXRα) is a nuclear receptor that plays a critical role in regulating cholesterol homeostasis and lipid metabolism in cattle. It functions as a transcription factor, responding to increased cellular cholesterol levels by activating genes involved in cholesterol transport, absorption, and excretion. LXRα also has anti-inflammatory properties, helping to modulate immune responses. Recent studies have shown that LXRα is involved in the regulation of triglyceride synthesis in Bovine mammary epithelial cells, particularly in response to lipopolysaccharides (LPS), which can induce milk fat depression. This highlights its importance in both metabolic regulation and immune function in Bovines.
