Target Information
Bovine ribonuclease A (RNase A) is an endonuclease enzyme that specifically catalyzes the degradation of RNA, particularly targeting pyrimidine residues. It is primarily sourced from the pancreas of cattle and is widely used in biochemical research due to its stability and ability to cleave RNA at the 3' end of cytidine and uridine nucleotides. RNase A plays a significant role in removing RNA during DNA preparation and is also utilized in various applications, including the study of RNA structure and function, as well as in therapeutic contexts to inhibit viral replication, such as in influenza virus and herpes simplex virus infections. Its ability to alter host cell metabolism makes it a valuable tool in molecular biology and clinical research.
