Candida albicans is an opportunistic pathogenic yeast responsible for causing candidiasis, a condition observed globally across a variety of animal species. Secreted aspartic protease 1 is a member of secreted aspartic peptidases (SAPs) which are a group of ten acidic hydrolases considered as key virulence factors.
