Target Information
Canine carbonic anhydrase (CA2) is a zinc metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of CO2 to bicarbonate. In veterinary medicine, CA2 is crucial for acid-base balance and pH regulation in various tissues, including the kidneys and eyes. It is also involved in ion transport and bone resorption. CA2 is used in diagnostic assays for glaucoma and other conditions, and its inhibitors are used to manage glaucoma in dogs.
