Target Information
Canine glutathione hydrolase3, also known as Glutathione S-transferase P1-1 (GST P1-1), is a cytosolic detoxication enzyme that plays a crucial role in the conjugation of electrophilic xenobiotics with glutathione, facilitating their excretion. This enzyme is involved in the protection against a variety of toxic agents, including epoxides, alkenals, quinones, and hydroperoxides. Overexpression of GST P1-1 has been observed in certain neoplastic cells and tissues, suggesting its potential use as a tumor marker and a target for enzyme-activated chemotherapy. It is also relevant in veterinary medicine, particularly in the context of canine liver and kidney function, and has been identified in these organs as well as in the lens.
