Canine kit ligand, also known as stem cell factor (SCF), is a cytokine that plays a pivotal role in the development and function of various cell types, including hematopoietic cells, melanocytes, and germ cells. It is involved in embryonic hemopoiesis, male gonad development, and the positive regulation of cell proliferation. SCF is also known to modulate mitochondrial function and energy expenditure, which can have implications for metabolic health.
