Target Information
In canines, monocyte differentiation antigen CD14 (CD14) is a glycoprotein predominantly expressed on monocytes and macrophages. CD14 functions as a pattern recognition receptor (PRR) that binds pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS), to enhance innate immune responses. During the differentiation of canine monocytes into dendritic cells (DCs), CD14 expression significantly decreases, indicating its role in regulating cell differentiation stages. Additionally, CD14 is involved in modulating inflammatory responses in the canine immune system by forming complexes with MD-2 and TLR4, activating downstream signaling pathways, and promoting cytokine release.
