Target Information

The CLDN18 gene encodes a protein known as Claudin-18 (CLDN18) in horses. It belongs to the claudin group of proteins, which form tight junction strands in epithelial cells. CLDN18 plays a major role in the tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space through calcium-independent cell-adhesion activity. CLDN18 has two isoforms, A1 and A2.
