Target Information
Equine interferon epsilon (IFN-ε) is a type of interferon found in horses, which is part of the innate immune system's response to viral infections. It plays a crucial role in the early defense against viruses by binding to specific receptors on cells, leading to the activation of signaling pathways that induce the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). These genes interfere with various stages of viral replication, thus providing a rapid antiviral state and initiating adaptive immune responses. IFN-ε is also significant in the context of mucosal barrier defense against viruses, fungi, and protozoa, highlighting its importance in equine health and disease prevention.
