Target Information

Feline leukemia virus viral myc transforming protein (MYC) is a viral oncogene product that contributes to the pathogenesis of FeLV-associated lymphomas and leukemias. It is involved in the transformation of host cells by activating cellular proto-oncogenes, leading to uncontrolled cell proliferation. In veterinary medicine, MYC is used as a biomarker for studying the molecular mechanisms of FeLV-induced cancers and for developing diagnostic tools to detect FeLV infections and associated malignancies. Additionally, understanding MYC's role helps in designing targeted therapies to inhibit viral oncogenesis.
