Target Information
Feline T-cell surface glycoprotein CD3 epsilon chain (CD3E) is a key component of the T-cell receptor (TCR)-CD3 complex on the surface of T-lymphocytes. It plays a crucial role in the adaptive immune response by mediating signal transduction upon antigen recognition. CD3E contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) that become phosphorylated upon TCR engagement, activating downstream signaling pathways. In cats, CD3E is essential for T-cell development and proper assembly of the TCR-CD3 complex. It also participates in the internalization and down-regulation of TCR-CD3 complexes via endocytosis.
