Target Information
Mouse Kallikrein-7 (Klk7) is a member of the kallikrein family of serine proteases. It is involved in various physiological processes, including the regulation of blood pressure, inflammation, and skin desquamation. In the mouse epidermis, Klk7 plays a key role in the degradation of corneodesmosomes, which are structures that maintain the cohesion of the stratum corneum. By cleaving these structures, Klk7 facilitates the shedding of the outermost layer of skin cells, a process essential for normal skin turnover and barrier function. This activity is particularly important in conditions such as psoriasis, where impaired desquamation leads to scaling and thickened skin.
