Target Information
Interstitial collagenase, also known as fibroblast collagenase and matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), is an enzyme critical for tissue remodelling and wound healing. It belongs to the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family of enzymes, which specialise in degrading various components of the extracellular matrix (ECM), the network of proteins and sugars that provides structural support and signalling cues to cells. The porcine MMP1 and MMP10 genes consist of 10 exons and 9 introns spanning approximately 8,460 and 7,030 bp, respectively.
