Target Information

Transforming growth factor β-1 (TGFβ-1) is a secreted protein belonging to the TGF-β family. TGFβ-1 is abundantly expressed in bone, articular cartilage and chondrocytes and is increased in osteoarthritis. TGFβ-1 has many cellular functions, including the control of cell growth, cell proliferation, cell differentiation and apoptosis. TGFβ-1 is encoded by the TGFB1 gene in pigs. Research has shown that the expression of TGFB1 is upregulated during in vitro culture of ovarian granulosa cells from landrace gilts.
