Target Information
Sheep actin, cytoplasmic 1, also known as β-actin, is a protein that is ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells, including sheep. It plays a critical role in various types of cell motility and is a major component of the cell's cytoskeleton. This protein is involved in the maintenance of cell shape, cell division, and intracellular transport. β-actin is also essential for muscle contraction and is involved in the formation of structures like stress fibers and microvilli. It exists in two forms: globular actin (G-actin) and filamentous actin (F-actin), which can convert under certain physiological conditions, contributing to the dynamic nature of the cytoskeleton and cellular movement.
