Swine amphiregulin (AREG) is an epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like molecule and a member of the EGF family. It is involved in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration, particularly in epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells. AREG plays a significant role in tissue homeostasis during inflammation and in maintaining epithelial cell integrity during lung infections.
