Target Information
Swine phospholipase A2, pancreas (pPLA2) is an enzyme that belongs to the Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) family, which is known for its ability to catalyze the hydrolysis of the sn-2 acyl bond in glycerophospholipids. This process is a key step in the metabolism and regulation of membrane phospholipids. In swine, pPLA2 plays a significant role in various physiological processes, including digestion, inflammation, and lipid metabolism. It is particularly involved in the mobilization of arachidonic acid, a precursor for the synthesis of eicosanoids, which are potent bioactive lipids involved in inflammation and immune responses.
