Target Information
Swine plasminogen activator, urokinase (uPA) is a serine protease that plays a pivotal role in the fibrinolytic system, which is responsible for the breakdown of blood clots. It is synthesized and secreted by endothelial cells and is involved in the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, which in turn degrades fibrin. In swine, uPA is crucial for processes such as tissue remodeling, wound healing, and the regulation of inflammation. It also has implications in the migration and invasion of cells, which is particularly relevant in the context of certain pathological conditions like cancer.
