Target Information

Mycobacterium tuberculosis CPF10 is a key immunodominant antigen that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of tuberculosis. It is part of the ESX-1 secretion system and is essential for the virulence of the bacteria. CPF10 is also crucial for the secretion of ESAT-6, another important antigen, and the two often form a complex that modulates macrophage cell death, which is believed to be a strategy used by the bacteria to evade the host immune response. This protein is also used in diagnostic tests for tuberculosis, particularly in the interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs), due to its strong immunogenicity.
