Target Information

Osteoglycin, also known as mimecan, induces ectopic bone formation in conjunction with transforming growth factor beta. It is a small keratan sulfate proteoglycan containing tandem leucine-rich repeats (LRR). Bovine Mimecan is encoded by the OGN gene in cattle. Mimecan is a proteoglycan that is expressed by many connective tissues. Originally isolated as a bone-associated glycoprotein called osteoglycin, it was considered an osteoinductive factor.

Target/Biomarker Bovine OGN
Target Synonym osteoglycin; mimecan; osteoglycin (osteoinductive factor); osteoglycin (osteoinductive factor, mimecan); osteoglycin preproprotein
