Target Information

Canine BMAL1 (brain and muscle ARNT-Like 1) is a core component of the circadian clock mechanism, playing a significant role in regulating immune homeostasis and inflammation. It interacts with the promoter of chemokine C-X-C motif ligand 2 (CXCL2) to inhibit its transcription, thereby controlling the CXCL2/CXCR2 pathway, which is crucial for the recruitment of neutrophils and the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in sepsis-induced acute lung injury. Moreover, BMAL1 is implicated in the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine production, affecting macrophage metabolism and anti-tumor immunity. The circadian clock gene BMAL1, therefore, serves as a potential therapeutic target for lethal infections and may play a role in the development and treatment of tumors due to its influence on immune cell function and tumor microenvironment.
