Target Information
Feline CD8 is a surface glycoprotein that acts as a co-receptor on cytotoxic T lymphocytes in cats. It is part of the CD8 complex, which is composed of CD8α and CD8β chains, and plays a pivotal role in the immune response against intracellular pathogens. fCD8 is involved in the recognition of antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules on the surface of target cells. It enhances the interaction between the T cell receptor (TCR) and MHC class I, leading to the activation of cytotoxic T cells, which then eliminate infected or abnormal cells.
