Target Information
Porcine fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4), also known as adipocyte fatty acid binding protein or aP2, is a member of the fatty acid binding protein family that plays a crucial role in the transport and metabolism of fatty acids within cells in pigs. FABP4 is predominantly expressed in adipose tissue and is involved in the regulation of lipid storage, inflammation, and insulin sensitivity. This protein facilitates the diffusion of long-chain fatty acids across the cytoplasm and their subsequent uptake by metabolic tissues. It also plays a role in the development of adipose tissue and the maintenance of energy homeostasis, making it a key factor in the regulation of obesity and related metabolic disorders.
