Target Information
Canine melanoma antigen family A1 (MAGE-A1) is a member of the MAGE gene family, which is also known as cancer-testis antigens (CTAs) or cancer-germline (CG) genes. MAGE-A1 is primarily expressed in male germline cells and placenta, as well as in various tumor cells, including melanoma. This antigen has been recognized as a potential target molecule for cancer immunotherapy due to its restricted expression in a wide range of cancers and its association with resistance to chemotherapy, metastasis, and cancer cell survival. In dogs, MAGE-A1 has been identified in mammary gland tumors, with expression observed in moderate- and high-grade malignant tumors but not in benign ones.
