Target Information
Canine myogenin is a critical protein involved in the regulation of skeletal muscle development and differentiation. It is a transcription factor that plays a significant role in the later stages of myogenesis, promoting the transition of myoblasts into myotubes. Myogenin is also essential for the expression of muscle-specific genes and the formation of the contractile apparatus in muscle fibers. In veterinary oncology, Myogenin is recognized as a sensitive and specific immunohistochemical marker for rhabdomyosarcoma, a malignant muscle tumor, aiding in the diagnosis and prognosis of this cancer in dogs. Its expression is closely correlated with the histologic features of myogenic neoplastic cells, indicating its importance in muscle cell differentiation and tumorigenesis.
