Bovine angiotensin-converting enzyme 1 (bACE1) plays a crucial role in the regulation of blood pressure and fluid balance in cattle. As a key component of the renin-angiotensin system, bACE1 catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II. This conversion is vital for maintaining vascular tone and blood pressure. Angiotensin II also promotes the release of aldosterone, which leads to sodium and water retention, further contributing to blood pressure regulation.
