Target Information

Canine IgM, or immunoglobulin M, is the first and most abundant antibody produced in dogs in response to new or primary antigenic challenges. It plays a critical role in the initial immune response by binding to pathogens and facilitating their clearance through mechanisms such as opsonization and activation of the complement system. As a pentameric protein, canine IgM is the largest of the immunoglobulins and is characterized by its high avidity, which allows it to effectively neutralize a broad spectrum of antigens. It is primarily found in the blood plasma but can also be detected in lymph and other body fluids.
