Target Information

Porcine L-dopachrome tautomerase, also known as DOPT or APOH, is an enzyme that plays a pivotal role in the melanin biosynthesis pathway. This protein catalyzes the isomerization of L-dopachrome to 5,6-dihydroxyindole, which is a key step in the production of melanin pigments. Beyond its function in pigment production, DOPT has also been implicated in various physiological and pathological processes, including the immune response and the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. As a molecular target, DOPT is significant due to its dual role in melanogenesis and its potential involvement in disease pathology. It has been studied in the context of pigmentation disorders and melanoma, as well as in conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, where its expression levels have been found to be altered.
