Target Information
Porcine activin A receptor type I (pActRI), also referred to as activin receptor type I (ACVR1) or ALK2, is a transmembrane protein and a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily of receptors. This receptor plays a critical role in mediating the signaling of Activin A, a multifunctional cytokine involved in various physiological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue remodeling. pActRI is expressed in a wide range of tissues and is particularly important in the regulation of skeletal development, immune function, and the reproductive system in pigs. Upon binding Activin A, pActRI initiates intracellular signaling cascades that can lead to the activation of Smad transcription factors, which regulate gene expression and influence cellular behavior.
