Target Information
Porcine aminopeptidase N (pAPN) is a zinc-dependent metallopeptidase that plays a critical role in various biological processes. It is a member of the M1 family of aminopeptidases and is widely expressed on the surface of epithelial cells, including those in the porcine intestinal tract. pAPN is best known for its role as a receptor for several coronaviruses, such as porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), facilitating their entry into host cells. This enzyme is also involved in the hydrolysis of peptides and extracellular matrix proteins, contributing to processes like cell motility, angiogenesis, and tumor metastasis.
