Target Information
Canine insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) is a crucial peptide hormone that plays a significant role in regulating growth, development, and metabolism in dogs. It is synthesized in the liver and mediates many of the anabolic effects of growth hormone (GH) in various tissues, including bones, muscles, kidneys, and the mammary gland. IGF-1 is also recognized as a marker of liver function in dogs, with diagnostic value comparable to fasting bile acids. Additionally, it has been linked to obesity, with higher levels observed in overweight dogs, and these levels normalize after weight loss.
