Target Information
Porcine flavin containing monooxygenase 2 (FMO2) is a vital enzyme involved in the oxidative metabolism of a wide range of endogenous and exogenous compounds in pigs. FMO2 belongs to the flavin-containing monooxygenase family, which utilizes oxygen and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) to catalyze the oxidation of nucleophilic heteroatoms, such as sulfur, phosphorus, and nitrogen found in various substrates. This enzyme plays a significant role in the detoxification process, as it can convert lipophilic substances into more hydrophilic metabolites, facilitating their elimination from the body. FMO2 is particularly important in the metabolism of drugs and other xenobiotics, as well as in the biotransformation of certain hormones and neurotransmitters.
