Target Information

Porcine Retrotransposon-Derived Protein PEG10 is a paternally expressed imprinted protein that evolved from a retroviral element. It contains two overlapping open reading frames (ORFs) and expresses two isoforms: a gag-like protein with a CCHC-type zinc finger domain and a gag/pol-like fusion protein with an aspartic protease motif. PEG10 is essential for embryonic development, as knockout mice exhibit early embryonic lethality due to placental defects. Additionally, PEG10 is overexpressed in various malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma and B-cell lymphocytic leukemia.
