Target Information

Porcine proliferating cell nuclear antigen (pPCNA), also known as cyclin-dependent DNA synthesis protein, is a key protein involved in the DNA synthesis phase of the cell cycle. pPCNA plays a crucial role in DNA replication by serving as a sliding clamp for DNA polymerase delta, enhancing the processivity and fidelity of DNA synthesis in cells. This protein is expressed in all cells that are actively proliferating, making it a marker for cell proliferation. In pigs, pPCNA contributes to the maintenance of cellular homeostasis, particularly in rapidly dividing cells such as those in the bone marrow, gut epithelium, and regenerating tissues.
