Target Information
Porcine syntaxin binding protein 1 (pSTXBP1), also known as Munc18-1, is a crucial regulatory protein involved in the modulation of neurotransmitter release at the synapses of neuronal cells. pSTXBP1 interacts with syntaxin, a major component of the SNARE complex, which is essential for the fusion of vesicles with the plasma membrane and the subsequent release of neurotransmitters. This protein plays a vital role in the control of synaptic vesicle exocytosis, ensuring the proper timing and amount of neurotransmitter released in response to neuronal activity. In pigs, pSTXBP1 is expressed in the brain and contributes to the regulation of neurotransmission, which is critical for normal cognitive function and behavior.
