Target Information
Porcine cholinergic receptor nicotinic alpha 5 (pCHRNA5) is a subtype of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors that are found in the nervous system of pigs. This receptor plays a significant role in synaptic transmission and is particularly involved in the modulation of neuronal excitability. pCHRNA5 is a pentameric transmembrane protein that, upon binding of acetylcholine, can initiate a series of intracellular signaling events. The presence of this receptor subtype contributes to the diversity of neuronal responses to cholinergic input and is implicated in cognitive functions, such as learning and memory.
