Target Information
Porcine transcription factor binding to IGHM enhancer 3, known as TFE3, is a protein-coding gene located on the X chromosome at position Xp11.23. This gene is involved in the regulation of gene expression by binding to MUE3-type E-box sequences in the promoter region of target genes. The TFE3 protein promotes the expression of genes that are downstream in the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) signaling pathway. It is also implicated in chromosomal translocations that can occur in renal cell carcinomas and other types of cancer, leading to the production of fusion proteins with potential oncogenic properties. These fusion proteins can result from the interaction of TFE3 with various translocation partners, such as PRCC (papillary renal cell carcinoma), NONO (non-POU domain containing, octamer-binding), and ASPSCR1 (alveolar soft part sarcoma chromosome region, candidate 1).
