Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 46 (CD46) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that is expressed on most tissues as four major isoforms (BC1, BC2, C1 and C2) that arise from alternative splicing of a single gene. CD46 plays a major role in regulating T cell-induced inflammatory reaction and in fine-tuning the cellular immune response by bridging innate and acquired immunity. Swine CD46 plays a major role in the initial steps of Classical swine fever virus infection.
