Target Information

Canine somatotropin, also known as growth hormone (GH), is a peptide hormone that plays a pivotal role in various physiological processes in dogs, including promoting protein synthesis, cell growth, and bone growth. It exerts its effects through the Janus kinase 2/Stat5a pathway, activating multiple downstream signaling pathways such as the STAT, MAPK, PI3K, and PKC pathways. GH also influences the immune system by priming canine polymorphonuclear neutrophil granulocytes (PMN), enhancing functions like shape change, chemotaxis, and adhesion. Additionally, it is involved in mammary gland development and has been implicated in the proliferation of canine mammary tumor cells, highlighting its potential role as a target in cancer therapy.
