Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 5 (CD5) is a member of the scavenger receptor superfamily, composed of three cysteine-rich domains of about 100 amino acids each. CD5 is a T-cell surface glycoprotein that negatively regulates TCR signaling from the onset of T-cell activation. Swine CD5, like CD5 in other species, mediates signal transduction, leading to changes in intracellular calcium concentration. CD5 plays a pivotal role in mediating outcomes of cell survival or apoptosis, and may prevent both autoimmunity and cancer.
